Amazon is attempting to appeal to American shoppers who are cost-conscious by launching Amazon Haul, a new online shopping marketplace with extremely low prices. Launched in beta on November 13, the marketplace is Amazon’s largest attempt to compete with emerging bargain giants like Temu and Shein, as consumers continue to feel the pressures of inflation.
With most things priced under $10 and some as low as $1, the marketplace caps prices at $20. The shop sources the majority of its products directly from Chinese vendors to maintain low prices. According to Amazon, shipping dates normally take one to two weeks.
Where Can I Find Amazon Haul?
According to Dharmesh Mehta, vice president of worldwide selling partner services at Amazon, “We continue to explore ways that we can work with our selling partners so they can offer products at ultra-low prices.” Customers value finding excellent things at extremely low prices.
The storefront is currently only available to American consumers on mobile devices, where Amazon claims the majority of deal hunters shop. Based on input, the business intends to “improve and broaden” Haul. However, it hasn’t disclosed any plans for future market expansion.
Design and Logistics Cater to Value Shoppers
Amazon claimed that Haul offers a variety of reasonably priced products that are only accessible via its mobile app and online browser. Electronics, household products, and fashion are among the categories.
U.S. customers can use the Amazon Online Shop app to search for “Haul” from the main menu. They can also use a mobile browser to go to www.amazon.com/haul to reach the storefront.
The storefront emphasizes affordability with a grid-style design similar to Temu and Shein. Banners promote “crazy low prices,” such as $3.21 for winter gloves. A two-pack of grilling tongs costs $4.99, and an iPhone case is $1.79.
According to the website, delivery is free for orders over $25 and $3.99 for smaller items. In an effort to promote bulk purchases, Amazon is also providing stacking discounts. These include 5% off orders over $50 and 10% off sales over $75.
According to Amazon, it verifies the safety, authenticity, and legality of every Haul item to gain the trust of its customers. Amazon’s A-to-Z Guarantee supports all purchases. According to the statement, this policy protects consumers by covering things like broken, flawed, or misrepresented goods.
Haul also offers free returns within a 15-day period for anything costing more than $3. Customers can return items at more than 8,000 drop-off locations across the country, including Amazon Lockers, Whole Foods, UPS, and Staples.
As Rivals Come Under Regulatory Scrutiny, Competition Intensifies
Temu and Shein, Amazon’s rivals, are facing regulatory issues in both the U.S. and Europe. Meanwhile, Amazon emphasizes safety and compliance for Haul items.
The European Commission is investigating Temu, a Chinese online shop e-commerce site, for allegedly failing to stop the sale of illicit goods. Temu, which currently provides services to almost 92 million users in the EU, has promised to work closely with authorities.
Shein announced a 68% increase in sales in Europe in 2023. This prompted the Italian Competition Authority to launch an investigation into the company for allegedly “greenwashing,” or deceiving customers about its environmental policies.
